Need Canvas?

As you winterize and wrap your boat up for the winter, make note of any new canvas work you need done for your spring launch. Late winter/early spring right up to mid-June is our busiest time of year as boaters are looking for their new canvas at launch. Many boaters however, forget about what they needed and ask us when they start to uncover and prep for summer. If you wait until then to engage us, we’ll likely tell you it’s a July project for us.

Early fall is your most opportune time for booking next years’ project with us. This lets us size up the project, order the materials (yes, covid shortages are still affecting us), and pattern the boat before it’s put under shrink wrap. We’ll then cut, sew, and fabricate it over the winter.

Once you tell us you’re ready for the install in the spring, we’ll coordinate the install date with you.

Our promise is that we’ll be ready by April 1st, no matter what! If we take a winter job, you will know up front if we’ve exceeded our job commitment beyond April 1st before you give us a deposit.

Need Upholstery?

Do your cushions look like this from your last supplier? Are they worn out, brittle, cracking and ripping at the seams? Robie Canvas can take care of this. We use one of the best marine grade upholstery vinyls for the cushions we fabricate as they guarantee for three years, no pinking (a common problem). Sunbrella Horizon solves that issue.

We do occasionally use other marine grade vinyl as not all color choices are available in Sunbrella Horizon, but they are getting better color availability each year.

If you want new cushions for the next boating season, reach out to us well before you close up the boat. Most cushions need to be patterned off your boat, or the seat bases brought to us for recovering. Our availability isn’t just the time needed to fabricate over winter, it’s our availability during good weather windows as well as the other committed projects on our calendar to get out to your boat.

Need repairs?

Is your canvas still new but needs a light touch of repair. We can re-sew broken stitching (we only use the best UV stabilized thread), add patches or reinforcements where needed, replace zippers, replace windows, and fix most things you bring us.

Sometimes, we can’t fix it and we’ll let you know that and why. For repairs, it is hard for us to estimate (except for window replacements) as we charge actual time spent on the repair and any materials needed for the repair.

 Our Approach to Marine Canvas

We offer free estimates and won’t do a bait and switch with pricing on the final bill. Send us pictures and a description of what you're looking for. We'll provide a rough estimate for your project. Contact us for a quote and we’ll get back to you right away.

As every boat is different, we take all patterns on your boat and custom bend frames to match your setup. We only use marine grade materials, and fabricate and install like it was our own.

Marine Canvas Materials

We offer a variety of fabrics, including the latest Sunbrella® striped patterns, standard marine Sunbrella®, SeaMark™, and Stamoid® fabrics. The best quality window vinyl in .040, or .060 gauge is available in Strataglass® for the best clarity and scratch resistance. We also offer Makrolon for those wanting hard window options. SolarFix® sewing thread is the only thread we use as it's guaranteed in writing to outlast your fabric!

Repair services include Window Replacements, Zippers replaced, Patching, Upholstery Repair/Refitting, and Re-Stitching if it can be done. If you’re bringing in something for repairs, please clean it thoroughly as we won’t accept dirty materials that can damage our sewing machines or ruin other work in the shop. Repairs are only done in between our larger committed projects. Depending on when you drop off, repairs can take as little as a few days to two weeks.
